Yep in return. It's one of those sort of posts that I would hit "Like" on Facebook which I suppose is just saying I agree or you made me chuckle. In this case, you made me chuckle.

I've thought some in the last few months of why it is so easy to be conversational with some people and so hard with others. When it is hard with someone I always think "is it me?" or are they like that with everyone? Maybe they just don't have something to say, and if they did, maybe they'd prefer to say it to someone else.

I recently saw a piece about introverts---it read like it had a sort of chip on its shoulder, along with a sense of superiority that I found irritating, as the writer clearly feels victimized by misimpressions about introverts he perceives--- anyway it does address some people's (not just introverts', I'd suggest) dislike of smalltalk. Maybe some (introverts, dude would have it) just don't feel the need to go along with it, vs. those who feel (at least occasion) disdain or weariness at it, but are often game to participate, for whatever social lubrication it provides.

Is it that casual kind of everyday chat you're talking about? Or more just any kind of talking?

He does seem to have a bit of a chip...I also think he is talking about an extreme of introversion. I was Myers-Briggs tested around 1998 and the results stated I was quite the introvert. I still feel that I am but have perhaps drifted much the other direction over those years. I think some the result of finally completely coming out and feeling more comfortable with myself.

Hmmm, I think I mean talking beyond chit-chat. Maybe starting as chit-chat and leading into more but with some people it just doesn't lead anywhere. I just can't seem to or seldom catch a connection with them.

I thought I replied to you earlier. Maybe the internet ate it. Mainly I said I was surprised you had been so solidly an "I" in '98. It wasn't long after that I got to know you, and I wouldn't have guessed that.
