I recently saw a piece about introverts---it read like it had a sort of chip on its shoulder, along with a sense of superiority that I found irritating, as the writer clearly feels victimized by misimpressions about introverts he perceives--- anyway it does address some people's (not just introverts', I'd suggest) dislike of smalltalk. Maybe some (introverts, dude would have it) just don't feel the need to go along with it, vs. those who feel (at least occasion) disdain or weariness at it, but are often game to participate, for whatever social lubrication it provides.

Is it that casual kind of everyday chat you're talking about? Or more just any kind of talking?
