Date: Jan. 31st, 2026 05:39 pm (UTC)This card was original a photograph, obviously, but processed in the 1907--1915ish range (real heyday of cards in the U.S.), during which German printers in the U.S. with really good techniques made a lot of postcards. (During WWI the quality dropped dramatically.). This one being an "RP" (real photo) puts it into its own postcard nerd category, and those varied wildly in quality. Lots of small photographer shops would make them. Local disasters like train wrecks would be popular topics, but the greatest number were portraits, often in the form of people in front of their homes, or just their homes. And there were early "exaggeration" cards.
I'm just blathering on now, however. Haven't slept but a couple hours in a couple days. Stopping now. :)
