perhaps

I would say that there may be a possibility that I could be somewhere near the point of almost being practically about to pretty much show some small sign of potentially not exactly keeping it together.

I smell a cliff edge. Which way is it? Or is there more than one? How still can I stand, for how long?

Mmmmm. Penguin treats.

(Or would that be "uck"? I s'pose we penguins eat raw fish?)

Penguins eat raw fish when they don't get treats. When they get treats they eat . . . seven-layer double-chocolate cake!

I bet you never knew that about penguins.

You know, I didn't!

That's pretty good. Hey, maybe the prairie-dropping-off-into-the-Badlands shot, and its appearance every morning before my eyes, has put me in mind of the landscape. You know, and it's not anything about my emotional situation at all! Oh, that's nice to know.

At the edge of a cliff H. would be nearly overcome by the desire to leap. She's that way at the edge of a roof or other dropping-off point.

Hey, speaking of desktops, now I'm trying to decide if I should change the selection of pictures from which the slide show screensaver chooses.

I suppose it couldn't hurt to spend a little break time here and there rearranging the pix, just in case.

Usually I actually like seeing her flash on the screen. Helps counteract the feeling that my reality is a mirage, my experience false. That "gaslighted" feeling. Do you know the expression? From the movie? (It was probably a play before that, I imagine.)

Was it a play? I know it was a book.

Man, it's really nasty to feel that way about your life. I hope that it goes away really soon.

Seriously, though, if there's anything I can do that would help....

Sending waves of support and virtual hugs...

Thanks, T. What I appreciate most is your not talking about it at work, even to me. Your continuing discretion is in itself helpful.

Wish it could be more, but discretion it is. I wasn't sure if not talking would signify I didn't care... so I am relieved to see that it is the right thing.

Remember what Nietzche said: "When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." It's okay to peer over the edge, just don't fall in.

Thanks, Michael.

That Nietzche---what a cut-up.
