Hot on the heels of the Obama Justice Dept's crappy brief about DOMA, tomorrow the President's gonna come out with this supposedly good news, but with a caveat: the homo partners won't get all of the benefits. Only some. Like, not all the health insurance benefits.

What fraction of them do you suppose they'll get? Perhaps 3/5??

"Compromise" sometimes is a dirty word, Mr. President.

Grrrr. This is all very disappointing.

I don't understand why the issue of "Gay Rights" is even up for debate. It's really a no-brainer: Either you support equal rights for everyone or you're a bigoted prick who needs to stop forcing their stupidity/"religion" on others. *shakes head*
Even if one believes the ridiculous assertion that Jesus doesn't want there to be gays, surely one can't honestly support passing federal law that presumes we are all the same religion (and therefore have the same prejudices). All emotion aside, it just doesn't hold up to logic.

I laughed at the "3/5" line. Brilliant. I also like this line from Wonkette: "These benefits will not include broad health insurance coverage, though, which is the thing most people think about when they think about 'employment benefits.' Maybe they will get discounts when they visit national parks or something?"

What a joke.

Werd. I'm getting tired of telling myself that it'll happen... with time... blah blah blah... And I'm starting to get pretty angry.

So. DO you think he can get re-elected without us and our time and money?

oh, probably. sad to say. after all, he's going to have all the big-money money next time around.

and there's always that unfortunate "what, we're gonna vote for the republican?"

It's true. And anything else sounds irrational and idealistic. I'm feeling pretty motivated to start a third party.
