I especially find it odd, in a fun way, when people use "pants" as an exclamatory statement.

Better than when they use it as a verb! Or do it, as a verb, anyway.

David Letterman's production company is called, I believe, Worldwide Pants, suggesting he finds something inherently humorous in the word.

Pantaloons are sorta funny, themselves, but the word isn't such a giggle, to me. Especially considering the headstart it has by virtue of containing an "oo".
