This picture was taken in a falling-down rural church (well, as rural as you can get on Md.'s Eastern Shore) in, like, 1983. Can you find the pigeon and the buffalo?

There are so many questions here.

Where the hell is this?

Why are we all wearing red?

Who's sitting next to you?

Who took the picture?

Why don't I have a copy? (it's a fantastic shot!)

Can you tell I only vaguely remember this at all? : o

We were in some old abandoned church with a hole in the roof out in who-knows-where. Toward Rock Hall, maybe? It wasn't the church where Tallulah Bankhead and her sister are buried (still in fine shape, that one), but it was out that way, as I recall. The pictures were Denise's, but I think that one may have been taken by timer. (Or was somebody else there? Wendy Murphy? I don't think so. Kimberly? Nancy Gillio?) I also have a great one of you as a bible-thumper (looking kind of manaical); there's also one of the Denz as the ghost of a bride left at the altar (with the sun streaming down onto her through the roof hole). Somebody had heard about or been by the church, but I forget who. Can't remember who came up with everybody donning red for the trip, either, but it was pretty surreal. (And, no, we weren't stoned.) (That weekend might have been one of Barry's "not inhaling" experiences, though.) (They'd probably give not inhaling a name made from Bill Clinton's if there weren't other competing scandalous behaviors that could be called a Clinton.)

Sitting next to me is Billy Fassett (we were pretending to be newlyweds), the openly queer adopted son to a rich doctor from Easton. He later got arrested with Nancy and some other people for something weird like theft after they played around in an abandoned hotel down at Tolchester Beach, I think it was. No, wait---Betterton. They threw some old mattresses out the window, thus giving the cops the excuse for harsh charges.

Sometimes I miss weekends hangin' out with a buncha people who have to cast about for something goofy to do, and then go do it.

It's starting to come back to me now. I even vaguely remember myself bible-thumping. Would love to see that one! I also vaguely remember Denise playing the ghost.

Red Day. That might have been my idea? I don't remember either, though. Sounds like one of mine. I know I'm wearing Barry's knit cap, and I loved that umbrella. (I have an old black one now that we found in the garage in Adams--makes me feel like Alec Guinness (in a really loose way, of course) when I'm walking around with it.)

I didn't remember Billy Fassett at all. Did he go to jail for his indiscretion?

Definitely miss those performance art weekends. And, damn, we knew how to compose a shot, didn't we? Thanks for posting the pic!

Were you really up at 6:11 in the a. of m. and on the computer? Wow.

Billy and Nancy and I think 2 others went to court, Billy with a lawyer his dad provided; said lawyer went with the victim-of-a-tough-upbringing argument and Billy got no penalty, though the others got like 400 hours of community service.

When we get a little further with unpacking I'll see if I can't turn up the others. (I think I'd scanned this one thinking it might show up in the US GUYS CD project.)

(You sitting with the umbrella has a Harold-and-Maude-at-the-funeral feel to me.)

Nah. The clocks on lj are always fucked up for me.

Cool!

Yeah, definitely an H&M feel there. The whole church thing, not just me.
