Date: Mar. 8th, 2007 11:04 pm (UTC)When I first saw "trip sitter" I was thinking of a house sitter for when rich people go on trips....There is quite a career to be made as a single female around places like Lake of the Ozarks where you can live in some mansion, keep it clean, pay all the bills, etc for it from an account, and just leave for the week or two the owner wants to use the property each year.

Date: Mar. 9th, 2007 03:28 pm (UTC)I realized last night that, having (somehow embarrassingly) never tripped myself on any LSD/DMT/mescaline-type psychotropics, I might not be considered a qualifier trip sitter for the primary meaning of the term. And now, alas, I think I may be too old to trip. Unless somebody with some really persuasive powers comes along to help me change my mind on that.
My new co-worker was telling me about Alan Watts yesterday. I like his line about drugs: "When you've got the message, hang up the phone." Makes me wish I'd already gotten more of the messages.

Date: Mar. 9th, 2007 03:59 pm (UTC)As for living in the Ozarks that much...yeah...My ideal gig, I think is going to involve a massage practice and music work at the Lake in the summer and 3-6 months of IT consulting in some random places around the world during the winter. Of course, I haven't seen enough of the states yet to determine that as a final resting place...I still want to check out Flagstaff and Sedona and southern california and Eugene.
