I think I could have quite a career as a trip sitter. Sometimes I think I have served that function, in a loose sense, for lots of folks.

That does sound cool. Though I don't know if I could handle living in Lake of the O's for that many months of the year. You know? Not to slam the state, or the Ozarks. (I might slam Branson, but that's a different matter.)

I realized last night that, having (somehow embarrassingly) never tripped myself on any LSD/DMT/mescaline-type psychotropics, I might not be considered a qualifier trip sitter for the primary meaning of the term. And now, alas, I think I may be too old to trip. Unless somebody with some really persuasive powers comes along to help me change my mind on that.

My new co-worker was telling me about Alan Watts yesterday. I like his line about drugs: "When you've got the message, hang up the phone." Makes me wish I'd already gotten more of the messages.

That is a good Alan Watts line...

As for living in the Ozarks that much...yeah...My ideal gig, I think is going to involve a massage practice and music work at the Lake in the summer and 3-6 months of IT consulting in some random places around the world during the winter. Of course, I haven't seen enough of the states yet to determine that as a final resting place...I still want to check out Flagstaff and Sedona and southern california and Eugene.

The first thing that jumps to mind when you mention those 4 places is that all but Eugene have water issues. But I guess Flagstaff & even Sedona aren't in the dryest parts of the state. I kinda dug Flagstaff, as I recall, on a pass-through once years ago. You got some mountain action there still.
