My townsfolk hear "Go Blue!"
I watch to see whether
I'll lose a poem, not a
buck. Eyes on their helmets,

I watch to see whether
we cut the lead again.
Buckeyes on their helmets
look like weed. Now

we cut the lead, again.
Six scores this half---two
looked like we'd now
still got a chance, at that.

Six scores this half, too.
Football! Losing, but, whoa,
still got a chance at that
bet. I take lightly

football, losing, but... Woe.
I've lost a poem: not a
bet I take lightly.
My townsfolk here go blue.

That was the most fun I've ever had finding out how a game went.

My, you are an astute young lady. I'm more precisely Mr. Got-ridiculed-by-athletes-as-a-kid. My secret schadenfreude (thank you, Lisa Simpson for the vocabulary lesson) in big-time sports is that half of my childhood-tormentors-in-spirit must lose. BWAHAHAHA!!!!

This is possibly the best thing I have ever won in a bet.

It was great game, now commemorated by an excellent poem. I especially like the line plays. And I totally agree about the buckeye helmet stickers looking like weed.

I would not mind at all if Blue stays at number two and faces us again for the National Title.

Oh, me neither. We'd have to up the stakes then, too. What's harder than a pantoum? Would we dare sestina?

I had a first-and-last line about ya'll's team being at home, with a little bit of turn, but scrapped it for the blue thing.

Anyway, congrats!

I thought ya'll's fellas were playing with a certain, shall we say, fluidity of spirit.

So sorry that the Wolverines lost the game--Jeff even watched when he found out that one of the teams was from A2. We awaited your poem with eager anticipation, and we are not disappointed! Well worth the loss of the game, I'd say.

I should also mention that one of the games we've been playing of late, usually on car rides, is tryng to come up with random homophones. Jeff is fascinated by them. He was kind of excited about your skill with them. Plus, he got to learn wbout a pantoum, which is cool, too.

BTW--in case you're wondering--he only gets to read selected lj items.

Jeffrey likes homophones! That touches my heart. He's such a cool verbal guy.

Hey! That was nicely done. Sorry y'all lost. Wait, no I'm not. I'm sorry for your loss. Nope, no, I'm not because I liked the poem, and I wanted Ohio to win.

Well. Erm. Nice meeting you!

Cheers,

Kym

Oh my! Looking at older posts on my friends list from school in search of links to follow with the fast internet connection, I found what a pantoum is, and looking again at what you have wrought, you have risen in my esteem by a couple of hefty notches. Bravo!

thanks again! i actually think it's kind of lousy as a poem, m'self. but it IS a pantoum.

btw I think you technically ought shout "brava" to me, if you're feeling like shouting that sort of thing.

Brava!

Oh, those darned languages with gender in their exclamations. And I suppose that when it's a female bull in the bullfights, they call out Tora! Tora! Tora!
