My work desktop has this background right now:

hedge trimmer

---but the season's about over. Can't find any of [livejournal.com profile] upsidedownblue's pix from the Badlands trip on my hard drive, so my favorite winter desktop image isn't readily available to switch to.

Whatcha'll got on your desktops?

Ooh, nice. Haunting, yet sorta peaceful. And lots of plain-ish space for icons.

Do you know any of the Gruendykes, btw? Does "gruen" mean green? So they're eco-lezbos?

I don't personally. But I was guessing much of the same. :) If only... that would make my hometown history much more interesting.

I miss you, David. Sometimes I think I see you walking to or from downtown, and then it turns out not to be you. Good photo! You two could sell toothpaste.

You two could sell toothpaste.

That is the strangest compliment I've ever received.

I know, I've been meaning to ask [livejournal.com profile] upsidedownblue for the pictures from when we went to Cafe Felix over the summer. I'll be home from the 21st to the 24th and I know [livejournal.com profile] upsidedownblue will be then too. We'll have to get everyone together.

Sounds like a plan. (I'm increasingly thinking I won't be able to hit my brother's family's Xmas thing on the 23rd.)

That is the strangest compliment I've ever received.

Cool! I feel challenged to try to top it. Stay tuned!

It's less than fascinating, but if you really want to know, my desktop both at work and at home, and also even at my previous workplace way back over a year ago, is this image:

Image

I made it by . . . you know how recent versions of Windows let you set two different colors for the menu bar at the top of each window, with one color on the left blending gradually into the other color on the right? Well, I set those two colors, and maximized a window, and clicked "Print Screen" to save a screenshot . . . and then I just deleted everything from the picture except those two blended colors, and rotated the blend 90 degrees, and stretched it to fill up my entire screen.

Sounds like you had to go through a lot to get just the ticket.

I assume you don't have it stretched.

The production sounds great, btw, from that piece in the Crimson, oh professional operatic director and singer, or however they put it.

Great pic! My work desktop is a tile of the recent Harry Potter as Bond thing I made. At home it's a purple swoosh, as it's Cathy's computer and purple is pretty like her.

But not a Nike swoosh, I hope?

i love it!

it's like a night of the living dead still: the bushes have you cornered, back up against the wall. but what's that? someone with their last strength pushes a thingamajigger into your hands, and the tide starts to turn. you emerge victorious!!

that, or someone's being naughty under the bushes where they can't be seen. either way, i'm loving the shot. my screensaver is still default blue.

I vote for the somebody under the bushes. [winky, vaguely blush-y emoticon here]
