from the big box o' postcards
Here, in partial celebration of my new default icon (postcard shot of parachute ride at Coney Island, circa 1907), are some goodies from the box of (mostly) postcards I scored at the big yard sale day in Ypsi a little while ago. First, a lovely cafeteria shot:

Reminds me, too, of a super 8 reel my dad had taken of the old Vegas strip with the neon cowboy. I always thought that was cool. Would have been in the same timeframe.

Welcome home, btw. Bet you'll be going to bed early tonight.

cool postcards
Re: cool postcards
I like subjects for postcards that are kitchy, yes, but especially if they're, say, ordinary everyday places not usually celebrated, or related to the trip to get to the supposed vacation destination, or pictures of the road itself. And diners and roller coasters. And what else. Tourist traps, the cheesier the better. (World's biggest ball of twine, e.g.) (Or better yet, World's Second Biggest something-or-another.) (Like the Second Deepest Hand-dug Well---that's in Kansas, I believe.) "Roadside" is the postcard collectors' category my favorites probably fall into most often.
