Movie Therapy, Night One

Last night I watched Owning Mahowny, another movie with Philip Seymour Hoffman, whom I tend to like as an actor. (I guess we'll find out how much he can stretch, and whether he'll ever go for caricature, when he plays Truman Capote in the upcoming Capote.) Minnie Driver's in it, too. It's based on the true story of a much-trusted and frumpy (thus more trustworthy?) Canadian bank employee who scams the bank, successfully for a long time, to finance his gambling habit. Pretty diverting---I'd give it that---but ultimately it didn't leave me with much. Maybe if I were a compulsive gambler or had one as a partner or something.
