H's little brother is participating in my basketball bracket group on yahoo; he posted to the message board there, and I was touched to the point of tears. Such a sweet guy.

Hey, girl. Sorry I didn't do the basketball thing this year. Just didn't get it together this week. : (

What did Bubby say?

Before he joined, my old boss and I were the only ones playing, so we'd decided to fill in two brackets each; since yahoo doesn't let the same i.d. have 2 in one group, I'd used "ironchefholly" and posted a comment in which I wisecracked about having been left with the mortgage so not feeling guilty about using that i.d. of hers (created for her participation in the baseball thing---not one she uses anyway). Then A. came in, and I posted welcoming him and introducing him and C.

He posted the following, with the subject line "yes lisa dear i am here":

"hehe ty for the welcome lisa and hello claire. i filled out my brackets in about 2 mins while falling asleep, but im doing pretty good so far. anyway, you got stuck with the mortgage but you still get the advantage of having a cool bubby!!! :P so feel free to message or e-mail me anytime."

On some level I'm sure I probably shouldn't communicate with him, but then again why the hell not. He went through absolute misery when he and J. broke up, and I think he probably senses how attached I've been to his sister, to our little family that is no more.

What a sweet guy! Definitely keep in touch with him as long if it feels right. How's he doing with the kids and all, anyway?

Last I saw him/them was at Christmas, and I actually hung out with him and the kids less than I would have, had I known it'd be my last time down there. He seems to be doing well enough. The kids are in much better shape than when the marriage was falling apart.

That's cool that the kids are doing better. Stability's a good thing when you're little.
