Up late. Itchin' to skip work tomorrow to drive to Lansing and yell.

The tactic in MI is emergency financial management. A.k.a. commandeering. Kin to martial law, and don't scoff--- it ain't that many steps down that road.

To bed, girl. To bed.

My friend Jon just posted a quote from H.L. Mencken: "When A annoys or injures B on the pretense of saving or improving X, A is a scoundrel."

We are all B.

We are.

Might be a little awkward for a protest sign, though. What with the asterisk and the small print gloss and all. :)

Somebody did have

TAX
THE
RICH

in Lansing the other day, I saw on the internet. I've been reduced to those three words in my mind a lot lately. But I'm willing to compromise: if they let us stop making and selling war, I'd consider, what with all the profits they'd lose there, a hiatus or peace dividend for converting that industry. The Plowshare Provision.

One of the many Wisconsin chants I was happy to see rolled out: the classic We are the union, the mighty, mighty union.

I wholeheartedly agree. I wish I had even a momentary phosphene of realistic hope that less war or fewer tax breaks for the rich (let alone both) were a possibility. I feel so, so hopeless and helpless right now.

Take heart, dear boy. There's a chance---if only a small chance---that they've pushed too far, and we might re-gain a pittance of our lot!

(Another questionable slogan: Please let's hope for re-gaining a pittance of our lot!)

Since I don't have the encouraging words, lemme give these, from Reich's reminder this morning to stay nonviolent in resistance:

Know that we are a nation of laws, and those laws will prevail. The People’s Party is growing across America — and the actions of Scott Walker and his Republican colleagues are giving it even greater momentum. So are the actions of congressional Republicans who are using the threat of a government shutdown to strong-arm their way in Washington.
