In "Act One: When I Grow Up" of this weekend's This American Life, David Holthouse reads Stalking the Bogeyman, his 2004 piece about what became of his plot for revenge on the man who had, at 15, raped him, when he was 7. Through that emotionally taut story we get a kind of rendering of his psychic experience as a survivor of childhood rape, and a lot to mull over, in the mind and in the heart.

It's killer stuff. I recommend it, particularly in the form of hearing him deliver it. His steady, even voice has power in its restraint. Feel the tension. Adds to the impact.
