Al Green is awesome. I actually herd a song [of his, it turned out] I had never heard before, in the Memphis Starbucks (in the airport), and I asked the coffee gal what that last song was. She said, "What does he say? I hear these all the time and I can't remember what just played." So I doofusly mimicked his falsetto, 'cause I just had to know. She's like, "That's my man Al Green!"

this internet radio thingie i'm listening to is playing king curtis (i've "asked" it to play a lot of king curtis) doing "memphis soul stew" live at the filmore, w/billy preston in the band. it's got one of those huge long expositions in which he introduces each part added to the mix. sweet.
