Have a listen. It's Alison Krauss.

Not the perfect song for tonight. But there it is for you anyway. I think it's simply beauty-full.

That's nice. A work mate was just telling me that he is way into Alison Krauss, and she is on the list of people he recommends everyone see. I think she is coming to DAR soon. Yup-- May 16. Just checked.

She really is somethin'. I went to this country music thing in the western Maryland hills with EJ years ago---down near Fifteen Mile Creek Road, or whatever that exit offa 68 is called where the Jeep tripped 100,000. Or was it 150,000. Anyway, I learned there about this country music festival thing they do with leaving space in front of the stage so people can walk past, get close for a few minutes, take pix, whatever. Which I dug. But even better was this break-out into "workshops" in smaller tents, and how, in Alison's, we were right up there, looking up her nostrils (from Indianstyle on the floor, or did it just feel that way?), just being people in a tent with the fiddler woman with that distinctive voice talking and playing and singing to us.

I'm pretty sure she herself had been the drawing card for me for that event. But I dunno. I'da gone to all manner of thing then, just to get away and hang with buds, see someplace different, hear some things new, be around people I wasn't usually around, trip 150K on the red asphalt running through that part of the world....
