My old friend Davi J. Peterson turned me on to this song, "Guess Who I Saw In Paris", which I was just thinking about cuzza a discussion in .planland. Love Buffy's warble, and how h-o-t hot are the understatement, the cinematic zeroing in (that's what the Dahv pointed out) of the "standing in the street" anaphora, and the "la da da"s.

I don't believe I've ever heard this groovy song before. (Well, I still haven't heard it-- something not working here, but I will try later.) I now know what "anaphora" means too. I must say I find the practice annoying in political speeches or religious speeches or sermons, even though the great MLK Jr. used it. Perhaps too many speakers use it now. But I digress.

Actually, when I first glanced at your entry, I thought you were referring to a song a friend and I both started talking about the other day as one that we were haunted by....http://sprig5.livejournal.com/40098.html
