wouldn't a taco be good right about now?

i'm feeling oddly forlorn at this particular spot in this particular afternoon

might well be simply cuzza just one cuppa

not the forlornness---the feelin' it

another possible influence: it's down to just georgia & me, already, in this room, and she's behind walls

Mmmm. And, uh, 'urp.'

I got my tacos, but at Taco Bell. Had a busy night ahead.

I just read someplace about something ya'll are s'posed to have up there in the PAC NW that hasn't swept the country yet but may... some kind of establishment. Slipping my mind now. If it ever stuck there at all.

i will! i was searching for something about something local, and ----wait! i've got it!! it was (and i recall now i thought of you for two reasons)....

hip late-night donut shops

(or doughnut shoppes) (i hold on to 'doughnut' sometimes)

it was in a discussion in annarborisoverrated:

There is a massive donut craze going on in the Pacific Northwest that hasn't made it's [sic] way far east [enough] for my liking. Seattle and Portland both have these awesome donut shops where they make amazing donuts of all flavors and styles. In particular, I love Voodoo Donut in Portland, which has the slightly pornographic slogan "The Magic Is in the Hole". I think they have a contest to see how many donuts a male can fit on... anyway. You have to love a donut shop that sells a maple bar with bacon on it and is only open from 10pm to 10am. http://www.voodoodoughnut.com/ Seattle's Mighty O Donut and Top Pot Doughnuts are of the same ilk. Some enterprising young person would make a mint selling donuts late night to the UM crowd. You have to wait like 30 minutes (in the rain at 2am) for a donut at Voodoo...

top pot is about 1.5 blocks from my house. and mighty o is completely vegan. i've never been to their shop but they sell their stuff through other shops in my neighborhood. (seattle has no shoppes.) top pot is not particularly hip - it's usually full of moms-n-babies and so i usually avoid it. also why torture myself with the presence of non-vegan doughnuts? mighty-o has a french toast doughnut, among others. my current favorite donut is the chocolate covered cake doughnut with coconut. their is a poll for you to put up - current favorite doughnut. possibly versus all-time favorite doughnut.

I and several of my coworkers are currently obsessed with donuts. We've had them several times in the past month, and I truly believe they're mentioned daily. I want one right now. Bad. I want the donut craze to come here, so I can open a donut shop and live a life of donuts donuts donuts. And coffee.

ME TOO! it's all about getting to vivace before they sell out and calculating the next day that i'll have time to get to 15th street . . .

the only 24 hour doughnuts that i know of is the place in ypsi on washtenaw. . . there is a batch that comes out at 10 or 11 at night, then the next batch isn't until about 4 or 4.30. . . yes, i know their schedule by heart.

i love to make doughnuts too, but am bitter about the way the apartment smells like a deep fryer for WEEKS afterward. sadly, i don't grow accustomed to the smell:(

Here's the page at annarborisoverrated--- it was a discussion of coffee places but turns to donuts as it goes on:

http://www.annarborisoverrated.com/2006/01/19/a-touch-of-rebellion/

Maybe YOU should be the one to bring the craze here! Especially with this not-necessarily-open-at-5-a.m. improvement.

Some of my coworkers like the donuts at Dimos, on Stadium. You know, for when you're researching competitors. You know, the capitalist you. Why not give in? It's a capitalist world here now, that's how it operates...

in a fit of donut-ism, alex bought one of those brown betty electric donut griddles, but never made any damn donuts. i am so mad about it. my girl in high school used to work at Dom's on Washtenaw. not to perpetuate a tired stereotype, but cops would come in and steal donuts all day long. they'd just walk out without paying, like it was their protection payoff.
