the icy windshield cometh
Mar. 2nd, 2006 10:28 amSo familiar, this morning's chipping of the stubborn ice... but rare in these parts. Came out to it often in Baltimore. The ice storm and freezing rain thing occurred in a Charm City winter more often than any form of snow, let alone the dry wafty lovely flakes we so often get up here.
This kind of winter, though longer, is better than that kind of winter.

back in the day
Date: Mar. 2nd, 2006 10:46 pm (UTC)to throw away the ice scraper would be foolish march. throwing shit away that you haven't used in 18 months would bring you back to rash march:) it's always hard though in michigan, mid-january you find yourself squinting at your t-shirts thinking "why the hell do i have ten t-shirt?" 6 months later, you're staring at your hooded sweatshirts, thinking "three hooded sweatshirts? am i crazy?!"
as far as ice on the car, someone here suggested that everyone do what she does -- throw hot water on it -- take some pictures of how that works for you;)

Date: Mar. 3rd, 2006 03:30 am (UTC)Call me crazy, but I feel spring right around the corner, and I'm trying to appreciate this last of winter with every crunchy trudge I take in my ol' boots. There's something that feels good and competant and solid and able about being in boots. Having dry, warm-ish feet walking through frozenness. I like it.
