Re: Inquiring minds want to know
Date: Jan. 24th, 2026 05:15 pm (UTC)I should/could do a whole week of "California Bungalow" cards, with flowers out front. That might be fun, if I can get them together. Most are from the era of black-and-white photos that were then painted, so I suppose you never know about the accuracy of the colors.
Re: Inquiring minds want to know
Date: Jan. 27th, 2026 11:45 pm (UTC)I was today years old when I learned that there are multiple bungalow styles! I grew up on the East Coast around salt boxes.
In my north-central part of the midwest, there are many Chicago-style bungalows, and I'd carelessly assumed that California bungalows were the same. They are not!
Re: Inquiring minds want to know
Date: Jan. 31st, 2026 05:47 pm (UTC)My favorite house here in "A2" is a bungalow, on a fairly busy street, but with an outbuilding (garage) and just lots of nice angles, and set back a bit from the road. Forest green with white trim. Great porch, but nothing ostentatious anywhere. Still probably worth over $500K now. Or, hell, probably a lot more. Lottery-winning need even to try to offer them enough as a fair price to move, so I can move in, plus of course maybe it's not that great inside somehow, and it's almost surely better as a fantasy. :)
Tried to get a decent Google street view pic of it for you here, but the angles are all wrong. It's just a small to medium bungalow I somehow have fallen in love with.

I share your enthusiasm for bungalows, probably because single-floor living is my jam.
(I do go down the stairs when there's a tornado warning, but that's it for the day. Yes, I've been within a 1/4-mile of a tornado several times.)
Links are everybody's friends. One of the many reasons Facebook didn't stick for me is how hard it is to link to a FB comment.
