Dang, I can't find it now.
Feb. 10th, 2025 12:53 pmI had some postcard involving Theodore Banks, who gave an address of 627 San Julien in LA, and out of curiosity I looked up that address & saw that now, some several decades after his message, that block is skid row: the google street view that pops right up shows tents, and then I see that it's in the neighborhood called Skid Row.
Had me wondering how long it's been skid row. I didn't know Skid Row was specifically an LA neighborhood more than a general term for where homeless folks are, or where people "end up". So it turns out that LA's Skid Row "has been known for its condensed homeless population since at least the 1930s", as wikip puts it.
If I come across Theodore's card again, I'll let you know.
