All of today's Isle of Wight views are in (or near?) Shanklin, which our map card of the other day tells me is on the southest coast.

A "chine" (that's Shanklin Chine on the left, just above) is:
  -- a backbone, especially that of an animal as it appears in a cut of meat;
  -- a cut of meat containing all or part of the backbone; or
  -- a mountain ridge or arête.

An "arête" is term in geology for "
a sharp-crested serrate ridge separating the heads of opposing valleys (cirques) that formerly were occupied by Alpine glaciers".

Finally, the Crab Inn:

Can we infer that there are crabs to be crabbed in waters near Shanklin?

Here from latest things and I love postcards.

I'm bewitched by the sharp focus in the top one; do you think that was composited from two pictures?
