more Milwaukee
Oct. 17th, 2023 04:42 pmThis time let's look at more buildings. I didn't snap many residences, but here's my fave of the Halloween decorations I saw, in front of a house I could never afford to live in, but in not the richest neighborhood in town:
It's just north of the first of a couple of older cinemas I snapped shots of, which you'll see, along with some more buildings,
here:
A third old one, the Avalon, is boringly tasteful (and perhaps recently remodeled) on its facade.
Here's the somewhat famous ladybug building, decorated that way cuz the owner liked the idea (and ladybugs, presumably) (the ones in Michigan bite, taking away some of the charm they used to have in my book):
It's a shame this next business is only open one weeknight until 7:00, making me unable to see its old neon lit up, but ain't it sweet?
More:
Let's go back outside the jump cut for the close-up.
Finally, a parking garage you can see from a highway or two:
I didn't even set out to take pix of buildings, and could've gotten a lot more cool ones if I had. It turns out it's a great city for architecture, unlike that earlier postcard I posted mighta suggested (as
poliphilo pointed out). Industrial like medium-sized eastern-US cities, but on---and really connected to (more than Cleveland is?)---it's giant lake. Plus with a big river running down its middle, like Rochester. And the newer buildings really represent some style(s), for various decades/mini-eras over the past century.
