I just came across, while going through stuff in the file thingies on my desk, the form on which I can change the beneficiary of my work-sponsored life insurance. You'll never guess who still gets a small boon if I kick it.

I promise not to kill you if you tell me about your dice icon. Is that a wee gold thing in the middle? Is it an earring?

It's a domino! The stud is a spinner---a little piece of brass that makes the bones easier to mix, and protects the surface of 'em from wear.

Ah Hah! I have only had cheapo black dominos with white dots, until the Big E's mom got us some dominos to play Mexican Train.

I really, really hope that "Mexican Train" is not some sort of stupidity about Mexicans, because I really like the game.

I've been trying to get one of the insurance policies I have through one of my credit unions changed into Erasmus' name. I call every six months when I remember, get the name of the insurance company, write... and then never hear anything. I guess I'm about due for a phone call again.

My guess, knowing only a little about Mexican Train, is that the "Mexican" simply comes from the game's origin/popularity in Mexico, and the "train" from the chain or train-like making of a connective path of bones that's part of it.

But that's just a guess.
