We haven't done Message Week in a while.  I've got a few for us to look at that way---perhaps a slightly long "week".  We'll see.

It used to be that you could get by sending letters to "City". Sadly that doesn't work anymore. Even the small post offices don't postmark their own letters but send them to a major sorting office so they can make use of expensive sorting machines. The cover up the "local" slot and route the mail three hundred miles for sorting.

Even on the back side of this card there is no city name.

Do you suppose Miss Florence sprang for the $8.88 dress?

I dug that "City", too. And you're right---it's crazy how I can write to someone across town here in A2 and the letter or card goes to Detroit & back.

My theory is the Flo at least considered the dress. After all, she didn't throw the card our right away. Then again, maybe she was a proto-hoarder.
