Dress in black. Read Camus.
Date: Sep. 6th, 2005 02:40 am (UTC)Magnetic Fields usage notes:
Holiday: excellent light wallow material, with an option for dancing your way out of it. Also applies to first 6ths and first Future Bible Heroes releases.
Get Lost: moderate wallow with nice light finish ("The Dreaming Moon"). As usual, beware of the ukulele in vulnerable moments.
The Wayward Bus, Charm of the Highway Strip : seductively heavy wallow undertow with wicked black-hole singularities located at "Railroad Boy", "Josephine/100,000 Fireflies", and "Long Vermont Roads".
69 Love Songs: Go ahead, self-medicate at preferred dosage with your own edit version in iTunes, but watch out for "Asleep and Dreaming," especially if there are candles going in the living room.
In any case, feel better when you're up for it. You rock.
beware of the ukulele in vulnerable moments ... yes, indeed
Date: Sep. 6th, 2005 01:56 pm (UTC)Future Bible Heroes, huh. Good band name, anyway.

Date: Sep. 6th, 2005 10:15 pm (UTC)FBH: Memories of Love: yummy stuff, in an electro kinda way but without all that Fischerspooner self-conscious metapomo archnesse. Still, to extract the lyrics from the booklet you have to solve a bunch of Highlights For Children stylee word puzzles, so it fulfills the willful obscurity requirement. No cryptospirituality involved, the name notwithstanding.
Kiss your librarian for me for having 69LS on hand, but let 'em know that it doesn't always mix well with MAO inhibitors.

A little Merritt (or his side projects) goes a long way, in my opinion. He's best mixed with other things.
