Somehow I see Phyllis Vance on that postcard. To me, this is adorable.

My dad did amateur radio, but never seemed to to the card exchange thing. I had to google QSL cards to confirm that that is what they are called. My dad was W8UNF. He quit doing ham radio before I was old enough to be aware, but he started again after I went to college, so I got to hear him chatting. Truth be told pretty much the content of every conversation was A) I'm retired (both sides), B) I'm in some town in some state, and C) I'm transmitting with a mumble-meter dipole [antenna] strung up some way or another. But I remember him telling me about QSL cards.

I actually had a license for a while, but never used it (I forgot Morse code before I ever transmitted a dot or a dash). My call sign was KA8GIR, but it eventually expired and was probably re-assigned to someone new. I just googled and there's a 1980 document that lists my call sign with my misspelled address in Portage.

That's pretty cool. A little part of you was part of that world.

My dad had a radio too, but I didn't know the details. He was more into a CB club he started, of all things, than he was into his ham radio. There was Santa Claus tracking.

Very cool! If you make a QSL card, maybe show it to us?
