Is that a croquette game? As a kid, I remember older siblings playing, and appreciating the turned wood implements of the game, but I never actually got to play. I wonder if it was fun.

That's what it is, alright.

Back east I attended a few sessions of what seemed like X-treme croquet, in the lumpy uneven rocky root-ridged back yard of a friend. There I learned about a version of the game called "Poison", and I introduced that to some folks in my front yard here. It's a little adventurous in my yard too, compared to the beautiful lawns of such games as traditionally engaged in. But anyway, maybe I'll have a croquet gathering again, in the After Times--- and if so I'll invite you, so you'll get that chance, finally, to whack the wooden ball with the mallet.

It would also have the advantage of being in a pet-free area of my house, without even a dog (right now) who'd want to be out there, on a tie-out, watching the action, or being unable to allow it to continue, given her greater desire to chase the balls than any of the rest of us had. The most you'd have to put up with, presuming you didn't need to come inside for the bathroom, would be kitties in a window.

I'd still have to get it together inside for fundamental path-to-the-bathroom hospitality, so it's not like I could be ready any time soon for such a thing, but of course it's not anytime soon that it'll be sufficiently After Timesly to begin with.
