I vividly remember that first photograph. There was a big issue about the color balance and the tint of the sky. Pink vs. Blue. I didn't realize there was a postcard. But now I find myself wondering what happened to all the Hansen Planetarium astronomical postcards I collected in the late 1970's. They included some Iconic Mount Palomar shots of galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. Also some planet portraits that looked so blurry and grainy, not just in comparison to spacecraft photos, but what amateurs now do with video cameras and computers.
