Today's shuffleboard postcards are at motels, or a proto-motel (in the above case).

And yes, this last one is a motel too, as the back shows:

I'm trying to figure out if I have ever played shuffleboard. I might have played it in a gym class in elementary school. Or I might have just seen a floor marked for it and never played. It seems like it would be a moderately amusing way to pass the time if I had a bunch of time to pass.

I remember it figuring in jokes about old people, or what folks end up doing when they're retired. So much so that I wonder now whether it went out of favor for that reason.

If it's out of favor! What do I know. I don't go to Florida much.

You could put one person on either side of the court and have plenty of social distancing.

Speaking of social distancing, all my classes have switched to distance learning today. It's a mess. But I'm sure I can pick up a case of plague at the library...Wheeee!

Only through 6pm today, I heard! Are they equipping you with a laptop & internet, so's to teach those classes from home?

Either way, maybe we should start chatting on the phone, in our increasing isolation, more regularly. :D Looks like some of us are going to have the option of working from home starting next week. And with other interpersonal interaction practices curtailed, this human-contact-loving human might be jonesin' soon.

I do, however, seem to have plenty of toilet paper.

Yeah, my toilet paper supply is fine, too.

Yup, the teleophone would be the ideal means of communication now. Or even a gathering of less than 150 people seems safe.

There is an assumption that everyone has home internet access, and that everyone lives within 15 minutes of campus.

The lack of library makes me really sad, though.

I hear ya, brother. Let's talk. Maybe we can even dare to meet at a park, keeping proper distance between our old vulnerable selves, now & then.

That would be pleasant. Especially since the weather is getting better.
