Skee Ball is one of those things that everybody knows what it is but me. I think it's because my dad was really anti-amusement-thing. So I never went to things like that as a kid, and I wasn't popular enough to do things like that as a teen.

I played skee ball with some other unpopular kids. But we lived half an hour from a boardwalk with arcades. And, despite my father's contempt, I'd become a video game kid from a chance visit to a local bowling alley, where the thing about the wrong element hanging out there, in my dad's opinion, was that they were the kind of people who got paid on Friday and had spent it all by Monday.

I think there's skee ball at Pinball Pete's. If you wanna try it sometime. It's like bowling crossed with, I dunno, tiddly winks and darts.

My mental combination of bowling, tidleywinks, and darts is not making much sense. I mean, wouldn't the darts just bounce off the bowling balls, and I can't see how the bowling ball would make the tiddleywink fly.

:) Okay, it's bowling cuz you roll a ball down an alley-type thing. It's tiddlyish cuz the ball goes airborne and is trying to aim to go into something (I confess I don't really remember well how tiddly winks work, but you do send something into the air in a way that isn't much predictable by skill, I seem to recall). And it's darts-like cuz you're aiming for certain sectors for your thing to "hit".

It's not much like Whack-a-Mole. But you probably don't know Whack-a-Mole for the same reasons you don't know skee ball.
