That looks like a lot of work for what will be a pretty naff model in the end. Oddly, it reminds me more than expected about the kids books and activities of my early childhood.

There was a time when I was a total sucker for paper models. I built a really cool Monticello once. Now I don't even have time for my main modeling hobbies.

I thought of you when I saw some one-sheet thin metal pop-out models at Peaceable Kingdom (before it closed, obviously). Wondered if any of them would appeal to you, figured maybe the putting-together was relatively dull compared to your more usual kinds of projects.

I tried a little Googling just now to track 'em down, and they may've been these Fascinations models. Do you know about them?

Check out how Amazon sells this one for $10.95, but with "expert set-up" it costs over 200 bucks more.

I've been given a few of the "Metal Earth" kits, and built a couple. I actually found the process of bending metal with tweezers and trying to get Tab A to stay in Slot B rather unpleasant, and the results, though interesting, didn't appeal to me too much. So I've got the Metal Earth Space Shuttle and Metal Earth praying mantis stuck to my fridge with magnets, and a couple of others sort of stuffed away somewhere.

There's a whole subculture of online paper models, including online space paper models. Space agencies occasionally put paper models of their projects online, as well.
