Actually, it is the place to be this weekend. There's a filk convention going on that I wish I could go to this year.

Yeah, I know! I didn't know about Peter's filkers, however (earlier comment).

JMM can be kind of a thing to me, in my inner world, tho I've never been, and am clearly crazy. But slightly differently crazy at different times. Ever newly same old crazy.

I have seen remarkably little of Atlanta, despite having been there twice, now (dance workshop, and this JMM).

I guess both those things were pretty absorbing in themselves. There should be an expression for a place you've visited but seen almost nothing of, for some such reason.

There should be. It reminds me of the "have you visited a place if you never left the airport / got off the highway / stepped out of the car" debate that happens when those "which countries / states have you visited?" memes go aorund.

When we were kids my brother and I had a ritual of touching the ceiling of the car (or the inside of the roof, or whatever you would call it) when we crossed the border into a new state, so that we were officially in that state. It was related to the idea of grounding ourselves there, in case we never got out and stood there. There was some kid logic to the idea that the car roof would make if real, make it official, make it count.
