Got up before light. Just woke up early, gave up tryin'.

I read things on my phone & did extra morning stretches/strengtheners in bed, and lollygagged in getting ready, and still got to work early.  Seems like a good reset.  It's a slow week at my job, this week between holidays, but my habit is to work it.  In its modest way it's a special time here.  And Tracy's coming in Thursday just to bring us fancy coffee drinks.

For days I was calmly taking in reactions to our announcing that we're opening the position of director of our chorus (to applicants for the contract that starts in the fall, vs. just renewing the current director), but at the moment I'm just about spent, as far as entertaining questions, concerns, and implications of dastardly shenangans and inconsiderateness.  We were plenty considerate.  We freakin' considered the high holy bejeebus out of it.  Now it feels like 3/4 of the Midwest needs a g-d Al-Anon meeting.  And religious-themed curselike intensifiers have begun to inhabit my words about my thoughts, fer chrissakes, fer the love of Maud, etc., etc., etc.

, for a holiday gift to myself I bought a cheap watch that lights up in a pleasant pale blue and has a purple & white striped strap.  It's still ticking, after several days.  In my twenties watches would stop after I'd worn 'em half a day, or half an hour.  So maybe my magnetism has died down.  Or amped up.  The pocketwatch solution was nice, in its way, but I'm digging the whole retro wearing-a-wristwatch(-that-only-keeps-time) thing.

These are perhaps odd choices for a non-Postcard post, what with my not having made many of those of late.  But hi.  And a special hi to any revivalists taking a peek.

I certainly don't envy anyone who has to be on the board during super stressful times of transition like that. It's kind of a nightmare. But there is no doubt in my mind that the board considered this at excruciating length, and there is also no doubt in my mind that you made the right decision. It's unpleasant, for everyone, and unfortunately there may be some people who will just not be able to come to terms with it. But you're doing what is best for the choir, and I for one thank you for it.
