Tiles! I got to hold a sample tile once. Sort of a plaster styrofoam feel to it.

Cool. And sorta weird, that texture/material. Particularly thinking what all it went through.

There were some 31,000 tiles, apparently.

They had to be fluffy enough to be a good insulator, hard enough to endure supersonic flight, and ceramic enough to take high temperatures. A very special kind of stuff.
