I find myself wondering if this is a genuine postcard sold at a sideshow with a chicken, or if it's a retro postcard evoking a sideshow chicken...

I thought it was a postcard to promote the sale (or rental?) of postcard-distribution booths. But it was an attraction at the I.Q. Zoo in Hot Springs, Arkansas. There were other trained animals--- like a pig who would put money in the piggy bank, a raccoon who shot hoops, and a drumming duck. The couple who started the place were actual students of B.F.
