I don't have a decent working fountain pen in the house.  I don't even have a disposable one I can lay my hands on.  Yes, I have some fountain pens I intend (to learn [through doing]) to repair, sometime, starting with some crappy ones in case my inexpertise mucks things up; I have the famous lo-fi repair book by the late Frank Dubiel and a couple of great old pens with rotted innerds.  But, meanwhile, I shall have not one but two brand-spankin' new options, soon.

And more than one option of ink color.

I'm a little tickled with myself about it.  That's tickled, not ticked.  TICKLED.  Fancy that.

Wow, what kinds?

2 low-end choices, but promising to me

Do they balance well when you post the cap? Nice smooth line? I might get one. I

I'll let you know when they arrive.

I know at least the second one had a review by someone citing a nice feel when cap posted. I'm probably going to use cartridges in the wood-body one---which, if it's comfy, could be a carry-around pen---and convert the metal one to filling with ink from the bottle.

That wood one's (only available in) a medium nib. I'm ordinarily a fine kinda girl. Ha. But, like, we shall see.

I like the feel of the Lamy Safari, but I found when the cap is posted it's almost unusably unbalanced. And I have another one that it turns out you can't post the cap at all. So I'm wary of that now.

Actually my favorite pen, I dropped a few years ago. Need to get the nib repaired. Do you have a favorite pen fixer?

I don't. I aspire to be that fixer someday, but I'm a long way from recommending myself.

I've heard good things about the Fountain Pen Hospital, though, fwiw.

The Fountain Pen Hospital? How awesome is that? I like that color of orange, btw.

The report: the metal Ohto has a great feel in the hand and fine balance while writing. The wood-bodied A. G. Spaulding, not so much--- with the (surprisingly) heavy cap posted, it's top heavy in the hand, at least the way I hold a pen.

Fortunately I don't mind using it without the cap posted. At least I don't mind much.

But that hexagonally sided Ohto "Dude": dude, it's a winner.

Oh that's fantastic. I have a lovely old fountain pen of great personal meaning that's useless for want of repairs. I really ought to just do something like this, too.
