Started the day by brushing my hair with Murphy's Oil Soap. Screwy details trace back to little Manifesto as the prime mover.

Maybe it set the tone for the day, though. Did all kinds of cleaning, and house stuff. The place isn't clean, but that's cuz I mostly did strange & behind-stuff type things. Like oil the wooden kitchen utensils (spoons, knife handles, etc.).

My lungs are still occupied by liquidy stuff, though less of it. Still, couldn't do much outside. Ended up having to drive with woman and kid to a nearby park for hangin' out.

Unforgiven was good. About time I saw it. It tells an interesting story, and it tells it in an absorbing way. And it doesn't tell all of it. That's maybe the best part. Unconventional goes well with the Western---playing against conventions of Westerns. And with them, too, at the same time. Can't say the movie's entirely devoid of nostalgia for a romanticized Wild West, but it has much to recommend it, including aspects that work against that kind of nostalgia.

Now I want to look up "nostalgia," find out where it comes from ...

Random House: [Origin: 1770–80; < NL < Gk nóst(os) a return home + -algia]

Online Etymology Dictionary: 1770, "severe homesickness" (considered as a disease), Mod.L. (cf. Fr. nostalgie, 1802), coined 1668 by Johannes Hofer as a rendering of Ger. heimweh, from Gk. nostos "homecoming" + algos "pain, grief, distress." Transferred sense (the main modern one) of "wistful yearning for the past" first recorded 1920.

I made a big decision tonight. Might cost me a hunnerd bucks (I don't have). Might cost more. I've got no idea how much it'll cost, and I don't care. Woohoo! Is the suspense killing you? I've known for a long time I wanted one of these things, but I didn't know until tonight where I was going to put it.
