Days of rain. Shoes iffy. But email from Steve.

He likes the Google Chrome Angry Birds ad.

I like Steve.  I miss Steve.  We haven't been in touch in a good while.  He sent a picture of him in his new hat.

I could use a new hat.  The new shoes I wanna try on again, but last night they seemed a bit tight.  That was with my crumpley end-of-day socks, howe'er.  Nonetheless, maybe a trip to the cheap shoe warehouse is in order.

It's raining and going to be raining.  Katie and I were going to hang out at the dog park tomorrow, but now she has an airport run and I may not be there anyway, in the rain.  Gotta get creative and wear the pup out inside, I guess, in addition to go-ahead-and-get-wet neighborhood walks.  Cesar the Questionable has dogs on treadmills on his show, as does (I see today) [livejournal.com profile] disclaimerwill, dog singular, in his videos; is it worth me cruising craigslist in hopes of someone's cast-off, plus giving up house space for it?  I guess I could cast it back off myself once the dog settles down, if she ever does.

Zeus is the min-Pin who lives with our friend Robert. Pretty adorable, no? He does indeed really love the treadmill, so perhaps that would be a fun activity for Lu to expend some excess energy! Surely you'd be able to find a cheap-as-free electric treadmill somewhere on Craigslist, amid the pleas to remove the mouldering exercycles and Nordictraks from local basements?

This Katie I mention---a new copy ed---had some luck with (another Cesar trick): the backpack.

I repeat to myself how drugging one's pet is not an acceptable training technique.

Bah--as far as I'm concerned, there are no "new copy eds." These kids today don't deserve the title. In my day, we had to pencil in changes on the galleys themselves and wait for some anonymous gnomes elsewhere in the building to change the files for us! Granted, this lasted only for about two months after my hiring date, but I am counting it as My Day nonetheless. Bah, again, I say!

All this is to say I am unfamiliar with the backpack technique. Whazzit?

It's just ya put a doggie pack on the dog so's dog's carrying some extra weight around. Having a job to do, I guess is also the idea.

Lula does seem pleased when she's carrying a big stick down the street. But that's partly an oral thing, my sense is. I think she's in an oral stage of development, in fact, and I don't see her moving beyond it!

i love when i see a dog carrying a stick or a ball down the street. it seems it'd be hard to teach a dog to like the treadmill, but i have not tried. i wish i could teach rufus to use my elliptical.
