Nama-stay

Early on I thought (and thought "Cool!") of teaching the dog to associate play-bowing with "Namaste," but I when I realized it had "stay" in it, I knew I considered "stay" more important for her to know than "Namaste."

Spent a lot of time with the dog this weekend. She swam today; she swam yesterday. Water-fetched a giant stick today. Also got a little hung up with the leash on the way back in from one swim, and that made for a little nervousness. I'd like her recall to be so solid I could let her off leash on certain occasions. It's usually very good. Rarely fails. Failed once today when she had just grabbed a plastic water bottle, all delighted, when I tried it.

'Sbeen hot out.

Guess I'll go sit with the pup a little. Then hit the shower. It's gonna be a good shower.

:)

I decided yesterday that I wished I'd taught her, instead of "sit", "Pop a squat." That'd be funny, no? And almost impossible to say in a nasty, angry tone?

I did tell her last night, in an unpleasant tone, to stop fuckin' pulling on the damned leash.

It was not a successful communication insofar as getting her to stop fuckin' pulling. But it did have a certain blow-off-steam benefit, as my arm recovered from the jolt to its socket.

Hee! I like "pop a squat" too. That does sound awfully cheery, no matter how annoyed you might actually be! It's probably too late to teach that to Cora and Bubba, but I may start saying it to them anyway. It would likely get just as consistent and correct a reaction as when I say, "Sit!" anyway.

Yeah, even if you go to "Pop a muthrfckn SQUAT already!" it's not too bad. I fear "you damned dog" may come out of my mouth one day ere long. Pretty sure I learned that one as a kid. Or certainly "that damned dog" or "the damned dog." Like mad at us cuzza mad at the dog cuzza lordy knows what else.
