"Huge" was cancelled today. Those kids'll always be in midsummer, their conflicts and the adults', too, ever unresolved.

"ASDAH ... created the infographic in response to a call from the Let’s Move campaign, which is working to eliminate childhood obesity, and Good, an independent media organization. The organizations asked for infographic submissions reflecting the progress of addressing the 'childhood obesity epidemic.' ”

I do like the graphic, and the point. I think Michelle O's whole thing bothers me so much, because if she'd taken half a step to the left, there are actual useful things she could've addressed, instead of being one more person calling fat kids fat [derisively]. Makes me cranky.

Oh - and I meant to put it in the last comment -- I like that some of the fat-o-sphere people have been taking the It Gets Better project and and putting an outsiders-in-general spin on it. Lesley and Marianne both did it -- well, I don't know if Marianne has made a video -- and I like that. quite a bit.

Thanks for the links---that interview did my heart good. I haven't been following Fathionista for a while, and I realize I want it in the rotation again.

On the subject of communicating with your mother through the gleaned modes therefor and with all the ambiguity in decisions around unfortunately necessary strategies: I hear ya. Best to ya. Luck and patience and whatever-all goes with peaceful spirit in that tangley confusion and tenderfoot path.

We've talked some about HAES and intutitive eating, and body acceptance, but it's all been very this thing I do that can't possibly apply to her, because she Knows that she should be doing [Atkins-like-thing]. And the down side of just-casual-conversation is the lack of non-anecdotal data, which the book has in spades. And I like the way she's addressed some of Mom's sticking points. I just... I get very hesitant about poking around the basics of Mom's identity... but this might be important enough to be worth it. I think I'm in a good place about it -- I don't really expect change to result, and I don't feel so emotionally invested. It's more a do-I-want-to-cause-waves thing. And... we'll see. She'll be here in a couple of weeks.
