caucus

Well I'd started to get to thinking it was a done deal, Kerry is going to run away with it, doesn't that figure, and my vote for Kucinich would be one of those message votes---hey, Democrats, how about this, you have a few diehard progressive/lefty types out there. But, even though he's from privilege, and even though there is, as the corporate mass media love to point out, some question about his "electability," I'm thinking now I'm going to go plunk down a vote for Dean. If nothing else, he's (a) firmly after universal health care and (b) not in the pocket of big business. And there IS more than nothing else.

Now I think I'll go give him $5, as I gave $5 to Kucinich, to add to the big numbers of small donors. There's a thermometer-style "bat" on his website I can watch jump 5 extra bucks cuzza me. Plus, what the hell, as his blog shows, it's hardly over:

You know, a vote for Dean can be a message vote, too. Hopefully more, but definitely a message of not buying into the "here we've picked your candidate, now just take it" attitude of the party. I hope he sticks with it, just to keep things riled up. I really want to vote for him in March for the same reason. If he's out by then, I'll vote for Kucinich. Although Lyndon LaRouche is on our ballot. Yikes!

Yeah, you have a point---Dean IS the lefty fringe to some people. I mean, not only is Kerry uninspiring, but his record in Congress will no doubt show a history of both the kind of votes the Bushies can pick on and, frankly, the kind of votes I don't approve of.

My brother e-mailed today that he thinks Kerry + Edwards as a ticket might could unseat the Shrub. I dunno. Right now I've got to do my part to pull to the left. Me and my vote and my $5 contributions.

Kerry + Edwards = BLECH!!!

Edwards is another one who voted for the war and the Patriot Act. Yuck! And he's from the South. Double yuck!! I'd really have to hold my nose if that was the option.

How depressing our options are going to be. Keep pulling to the left while we still can. A shame we can't get more than a finger on the steering wheel, huh?
