State

I wasn't going to watch the speech, but here I am with it on. It was worse when it was Bush, and the Reagan ones turned my stomach. But it's harder when it's the one I voted for.

Sometimes it seems that the most visible impact his Presidency has had is on pundits starting their comments with "Look." You know? They totally got that from him.

He's making his way in with the gladhand bullshit now.

Finally I understand why people want to talk about the First Lady's outfit.

The worst thing about a government with a strong executive is that the fate of any set of ethical, economic, and political ideals pretty much depends of the social, interpersonal, and organization skills of one person, rather than on the value of those ideals.

And money. Don't forget money. It's all about the money.

I think the money is the problem in any system of government.

I'm tellin' ya, I watched the puppy cam instead, with Sandra Lee in the background, and am going to bed a happy man! And I don't expect that I know any less about the abysmal state of things than I would've if I'd watched the speech. (Though I may have fewer vague platitudes at my disposal than if I'd watched.) Baby animals are the answer.

Baby animals ARE the answer.

[I just gave that one a standing O.]

[Really, I did!]
