variation on the theme

Since (the Jeep and) I've been in all 48 contiguous states, I thought I'd use the map to show which states I wouldn't mind living in (albeit some would have to be under particular circumstances or only in certain cities):

States I Wouldn't Mind Living In:

create your own variation on the visited states map

Here, in text, are the states I wouldn't want to live in (since the map page is out a lot):

Alabama
Arizona
Arkansas
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Mississippi
Nebraska
New Mexico
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Tennessee
Utah

You'd live in Texas or Louisiana, but not Hawaii?

I could live in Galveston (for a while) and maybe Austin, if it suddenly lost a lot of population. There's also a strange little German town I drove through there once, Fredericksburg denke ich das es war, with a certain appeal---if it has a college, I guess. And maybe, if I were feeling like leaving the civilized world for a while, I could be a ranger at Big Bend.

Hawaii, though---nah. I'd have to have money, and I wouldn't want to be one of the people in Hawaii with money.

In Louisiana it would have to be New Orleans, and that would have to be with somebody who loved New Orleans, and/or with something cool to do there.

Where would YOU live?

Not Texas or Louisiana, that's for darned sure! : D Good question, though. I'll have to ponder.

I'm actually quite fond of where I am now. I know. That's boring. But true. Returning to California, if the state ever reclaims its sanity, might be nice, as well.

But yeah, right now? "I love New England best."

Even with what you were saying last night about the temperature? Wow. You folks up there ARE as hard as the rocks in the ground.

We're actually quite soft and touchable, just well insulated. : ) It does get damned cold up here, though. Damned cold. And if California could behave itself, there is that temptation.

But there's just something about this area. It's beautiful, it's got history, it's got baseball. It's liberal-minded. The ocean's only a few hours away. We got us a mountain with a lighthouse on top. The cats like it. The colors in fall are just ecstatically gorgeous. So, yeah.

I rather thought I liked where I was, too, but damn if the whole landscape hasn't changed for me of a sudden.

Yeah, the landscape can get fucked for other reasons than overdevelopment, can't it? I remember having to get out of the Baltimore area. Just couldn't stand it.
