the missing link

This news of the fossil find/unveiling is quite something. It may inspire even more mouse clicking than did the article on solving Sudoku puzzles (.pdf here) that hung up the Math Society servers upon its recent publication.

If you don't get a chance to investigate much, when it comes to the quasi-ancestral lemurian remains, I'll save you some potential cocktail party embarrassment right here:  her name's pronounced EEE-da, not EYE-da.

Um, I think it's pronounced "EYE-da," Little Miss Know-It-All, or else what kind of punny sense does perennial invisible Family Circus rapscallion Ida Know's name make, I ask you?

:)

It's COCKney, Big Mister Smartypants:  'E'd(a) Know.

Cockney with that touch of stereotype Italian.

Duh!

Oh, and maybe there's some proto-transgender in there, if said rapscallion is apparently female.

(Shoulda stopped when I was ahead?)

Point cheerfully conceded! I am totally going to start pronouncing her name with a ludicrous, Sacha Baron Cohen-in-Sweeney Todd accent each of the dozens of times a day Ida Know comes up in conversation!
