Realized when I got home tonight that my fern spawning grounds out front look cooler today than do the fern spawning grounds out back (whence that pic). They're in a taller mini-stretch stage. Also I have new daffodil blooms (some of the ones I'm responsible for) and a few tulip heads showing themselves that weren't showing themselves yesterday.
It's breaking out all over, have you been noticing?
There's a house around the corner and down the road apiece that had a picket fence starting to fall into repair. bigfinedaddy and I were bemoaning the relative ease with which it could be fixed at this stage, yet there it sagged; there it sagged, in fact, with missing pickets that lay right next to it, just a nail or two from restoration. Beyond that it'd be just a classic American bamboozling of some little kid and a bucket of whitewash, and all'd be smack-dab super-dooper again.
It's at a house that was sold not too long ago. I feared a similar degradation might be befalling the extensive perennial loveliness the previous owner had in that yard. Today, though, driving home, I did a doubletake: the flowers look GREAT, and I can see them cuz the whole picket fence is gone, and nice neat short wooden 4X4s stand straight in place along the periphery, awaiting, no doubt, a brand-new smack-dab super-dooper fencing.
Hope, whatever form it takes, we can see them flowers through it when it's done.
True. They might lose a tick for the varying tucked heads in the opening position, but they make up for it in how soft and fuzzy they are, which are not official categories, but which still make the officials go "Awww...."
Very sorry about Taco, Cynthia/Gayle. That picture of the trees and fallen trunk hunks with the strange beautiful lighting looks like a memorial in itself.
