I don't like the arms on the second one. I like to be able to lean on couch arms, and that doesn't look particularly doable on that one.

This is true, but I was more concerned by the fact that Exhibit A looks hard as a rock. Couches and beds are supposed to be soft, with round, billowing corners. That thing looks like it could almost be made out of plain wood with fabric draped over it. There's virtually no padding visible at all.
