Singles Camp

So, after a week of our figuring out how it would work, last night Holly moved over to friend O's, at least until some time after her oral exams (in Feb.). We're officially separated, but not exactly estranged.

I've started a few times to write of it here, but I don't really know what to say. Many thoughts running through my mind, and much emotion. We e-mailed folks and did a lot of very grown-up planning, and now here it is: me in the house with the cat (and two house plants), she setting up at what we've joked is "singles camp."

I'll spare you speculations on wherefores (and wheretos). Oh, and fellow workers, if you could please be discreet about this situation at work for now, I'd appreciate it. Sometimes it's nice to have your work life fairly free of your personal life, you know?

Chester misses the girl already. (Who me? Project?)

Ah, what to say that I haven't already said on the phone and in emails. Cool drawing. I can say that.

All the rest, you know. Virtual hugs. Call anytime (and you know I mean that anytime thing). Make good use of the alone time.

Hard to enjoy the living alone, not knowing what's going to happen. I rule the roost but there is no joy in Mudville.

So much of what I think or say about it comes out trite---one day at a time, one foot in front of the other, you can only do what you can do, my guts are in knots---ol' chestnuts like those.

Well, the situation has been lived through a million zillion times. It's hard not to sound trite.

I know it's going to be hard to enjoy the time alone, but do remember to take care of yourself. Do stuff for yourself. Treat yourself. Etc. : )

At least it was a civil parting, but it still is difficult to adjust one's life to the absence of someone. Many hugs.
